If we are going for unlikely punts with managers who have been at top clubs, Hansi Flick fits the bill after Germany crash out of the group stage.

Pochetino is the only option (if he actually wanted the job).

Pochettino is a strange one., Would have thought Man United would have gone straight for him, so why is he being overlooked for the top jobs in England?

I couldn't make the game Saturday but watched in my local. The fans at the ground seemed similar to the crowd in the pub. Very apathetic. There was almost an inevitability of that result which brought a reluctant acceptance if it.

I think that may be to do with the WC break?? Some people said to me "If this carries on after WC he's got to go". Have people just had enough of it and need a break?

Personally, I think the WC break is perfect time to get someone in. But there you go.

Lots of people left after the goal but was plenty of boos at the end.
I think people are just bored of it all

"I have a feeling that if we start negative and sit and try and defend and then Leicester score it will get toxic......."

Prophetic words, but it really didnt seem too toxic when they di (at least on TV). When do the crowd begin to turn on this shambles?

Re: Next manager - options
I guess any new manager would also have to embrace Noble as sporting director as part of the deal.
Pochetino if he would consider coming but struggling to find many others to fit the bill in what is a somewhat precarious situation.
I like Michael Carrick and seems to be doing a good job at Middlesbrough so maybe one for the future.

Some managerial talent will become available after the WC.
The likes of Kasper Hjulmand & Lionel Scaloni, one of our former players, might become available.

Re: Manager after next - options
We shouldn’t target any manager that is on a career path and being groomed to eventually return to their old club. It ends badly for the stepping stone club.

Lampard to Chelsea

Gerrard to Liverpool

Kompany to Man City

Carrick to Man Utd

Etc

All sent out into the world with lots of support and connections with the hope they return once they have mastered their craft.

That being said, it’s not a foolish model for the parent club and one we are not following with Noble. He should be out there learning his craft at a championship club.

Vincent Kompany is doing a very good job at Burnely. Too early?

I've got this feeling that Kretinski has lined up a new manager to take over next season when hopefully he will have complete control of the club !!

Time will tell.

Re: Manager after next - options
I agree that it could get toxic, but I think that may happen from the moment the starting 11 is announced.
The loss in the week, if we were doing well, wouldn't be a problem.
Fact is though he set up with the same negative tactics, 5 defenders, 2 left backs etc etc.

Despite the good times we had, there was always a question mark against Moyes given his inability to change things during games and late like for like subs when things weren't going well. I think what we all now know, is it is not just during games. He just cant change approach. We are playing exactly the same way despite teams, for the last 30 odd games, knowing how to play against us.

Re: Manager after next - options
There’s no if about it. That’s exactly how we’ll start!

He’s in that stage now where he is just going to be stubborn to show he knows better than others. It’s a bit like when Allardyce was told by the board that he keeps his job if he agrees to play a more expansive, attractive brand of football. Of course he agreed in that meeting the proceeded to play his same stubborn shit style in an I know best, two fingers up fashion, and inevitably got let go at the end of that season.

They are cut from exactly the same cloth. If Moyes changed style now after the know fuck all fans demanded it and it improved us, in his mind he loses face. He’d rather continue as we are and lose his job than do that.

For that reason, we are past the point of no return and just delaying the inevitable.

I have a feeling that if we start negative and sit and try and defend and then Leicester score it will get toxic. It's been waiting to happen. The performances are turgid. And Moyes does nothing to placate the fans.

He is too stubborn and thinks he knows better than everyone else. Sadly, he is showing the same traits if Fat Sam. His comments about everyone being an expert haven't caused too much of a stir but supporters don't forget. If he wants to start throwing stupid remarks like that about then he had better back it up with some decent performances. If he doesn't then the fans will throw that back at him sharpish.

His demeanour is sour and agitated. He's so un-endearing right now. Why would fans support a manager who is such a miserable and negative cunt?

Saturday could be a very bad day for Moyes if he continues in the same way he's been going.

Add Paqueta to that as well, there is no way you play regularly in that Brazil team if you are a mug.

Alongside the new additions, that stark decline in form of others, Bowen, Fornals, Soucek etc has to, to some extent, down to how they are being trained, coached, utilised as well.

I think Scamacca will be will be an excellent centre forward under the right manager. If you starve a striker of his style of players around him, and giving him about 4 touches in a first half all pumped up to him, he’s going to struggle to impress.

The only way Moyes goes is if the fans turn proper toxic tomorrow, which will never happen as its so placid over there.

Excellent post.

Whilst I do see similarities in the Bilic situation with regard to body language and team performances. There are so many other factors that you mentioned now that make this alot different.

The board procrastinate at their peril.
